Synopsis
The Whitmore clan gathers at their ancestral Vermont estate for one last picture-perfect Christmas before selling the property. Grandma Ruth lights the traditional advent candle and whispers an old family secret: the candle summons Merry, the vengeful spirit born from a 19th-century massacre the family has buried for generations. As carols play, Merry possesses each relative in turn, turning heirloom ornaments into murder weapons and forcing survivors to confront buried abuse, inheritance greed, and the lie of their "merry" legacy. By midnight the snow outside runs red and the only way to end the curse is to sacrifice the last living Whitmore heir. The final girl, rebellious teen Mia, must decide whether to let the spirit claim her toxic bloodline or burn the entire estate and the monster within it to ash.
The story
Mia arrives late to the estate, immediately clashing with her parents and discovering Grandma Ruth lighting the forbidden candle; strange reflections appear in every ornament and distant sleigh bells ring without snow.
Merry possesses family members one by one, staging elaborate Christmas-card murders that expose decades of abuse and greed; Mia and her estranged brother piece together the 1847 massacre that birthed the spirit.
Mia confronts the spirit wearing her great-great-grandmother's bloodied wedding dress, chooses to burn the house rather than inherit the curse, and escapes into dawn snow while the final scream echoes from the flames.

GRANDMA RUTH Merry Christmas, children. Time to remember who we really are. The candle flares. Reflections in the silver ornaments warp. One shows Ruth with her throat slit, smiling. MIA (19, leather jacket, eyeliner) rolls her eyes. MIA Can we skip the creepy ritual this year? Sleigh bells jingle from nowhere. Blood begins to drip from the tree's star onto the presents below.
