Synopsis

Lena Voss and her sleek black cat Shadow rocket to internet stardom with cheeky daily videos. When a pixel-perfect copycat account appears featuring an identical cat named Echo performing the same stunts, Lena laughs it off until the mimicry turns personal: the unknown woman begins shadowing Lena’s real life, wearing her clothes and copying her apartment. Paranoia mounts as followers defect to the fake account and Shadow is mysteriously poisoned. Detective Ruiz uncovers the stalker is grieving widow Evelyn Hart, whose dead daughter once owned a cat that looked exactly like Shadow. Evelyn has surgically altered Echo’s markings and now plans to replace Lena entirely so Echo can become the one true viral cat. A midnight break-in leaves Lena trapped inside her own home while Evelyn films the final video that will erase her. In a rain-soaked rooftop climax, Lena uses Shadow’s instinctive hunting skills to expose Evelyn’s Echo as a fraud on live stream. Evelyn falls to her death; the internet crowns Shadow the real star once more, but Lena deletes every account, choosing anonymity over fame.

INT. LENA'S SUNLIT STUDIO APARTMENT - DAY

Golden hour pours through a wall of plants. LENA (28) holds a phone on a gimbal while SHADOW, a glossy black cat, bats at a feather toy on the marble counter.

LENA
(to camera)
Day 147: Shadow invents a new murder method.

Shadow leaps, knocks over a glass, lands perfectly. Lena laughs. The phone dings—new comment.

ON SCREEN: @EchoTheCat has posted an identical video, same marble, same plant, same leap. Only the cat’s left ear has a tiny notch.

Lena frowns, zooms in. The comment reads: “Cute. Mine does it better.”

Shadow’s ears flick. He stares past Lena at the window. Outside, a silhouette with a cat carrier watches from the fire escape across the street. Lena doesn’t see. She hits delete on the comment and keeps filming.

LENA
Whatever. Copycats gonna copy.
