Synopsis

In the war-torn Warring States era, loyal minister Qu Yuan watches his beloved Chu kingdom crumble under scheming officials. Branded a traitor for his unflinching verses, he stages a final act of protest by hurling himself into the roaring Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth moon. His death summons spectral dragon boats and river dragons that rise to defend the realm. As invading armies close in, Qu Yuan's spirit merges with the mythical beasts, guiding a ragtag fleet of fishermen and warriors in a spectacular aquatic battle. Betrayals fracture the court while forbidden love and ancient prophecies collide, forcing survivors to decide whether one man's sacrifice can still redeem a nation. The festival born from his leap becomes both mourning ritual and rallying cry.

INT. MILUO RIVERBANK - NIGHT

Rain lashes ancient cliffs. QU YUAN (50s, long beard, white Chu robes) stands at the edge, scroll in hand, waves crashing below.

QU YUAN
(to the storm)
They call me traitor. Let the river judge.

His disciple SHEN (20s) runs forward, soaked.

SHEN
Master, the King still needs you!

QU YUAN
(smiles sadly)
The King needs truth more than a broken man.

He kisses the scroll, then leaps. Dragons ROAR underwater as his body vanishes in light.
