A scrappy teen in a dead-end town discovers that training a little boxing unlocks the fight for her family's survival and her own shot at glory.
Synopsis
In the fading steel town of Easton, 17-year-old Mia Santos shadows a rundown gym after school, throwing half-hearted jabs to blow off steam from her mother's layoffs and her brother's court dates. What starts as restless punching soon pulls her into the orbit of washed-up trainer Lou Vega, who sees raw hunger beneath her sloppy footwork. Together they chase a local Golden Gloves slot that could change everything. As Mia racks up wins, the gym becomes a lifeline and a battlefield. Her rising profile draws attention from promoters and old rivals, while her mother begs her to quit before the sport chews her up like it did Lou. With the championship looming, Mia must decide how much of herself she's willing to leave on the canvas. The final bell forces a choice between the safety of small victories and the terrifying possibility of real change for her family and herself.
The story
Mia, 17 and restless, starts sneaking into a shuttered gym after her mom loses her factory job; Lou Vega, a broke ex-fighter, reluctantly lets her shadow the heavy bag and notices her natural timing.
Mia racks up amateur wins that attract shady promoters and strain her home life; Lou pushes her toward the regional Golden Gloves while hiding his own health collapse and the debt collectors circling the gym.
In the championship fight Mia faces the town bully and her own fear of leaving; after a brutal three rounds she wins, dedicates the belt to Lou, and convinces her mom the family can start over somewhere new.

INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE GYM - NIGHT Rain hammers the tin roof. A single bulb swings over a sagging heavy bag. MIA SANTOS, 17, hoodie soaked, throws wild punches that barely move the bag. Her breaths come sharp, angry. LOU VEGA, 50s, leans in the doorway, half-drunk, watching. LOU Kid, you’re gonna break your wrist like that. Mia stops, chest heaving, eyes blazing. MIA Then teach me right or get out. Lou stares, then flicks the lights on. The gym reveals cracked mirrors and faded fight posters. LOU One round. Show me you can listen.
