A father deciphers fragmented video messages to pay his daughter's ransom before realizing the kidnapper is rewriting his own past.
Synopsis
In a single relentless night, Alex Harlan receives a ransom demand via glitchy clips of his daughter Lena bound in darkness. Each message arrives out of chronological order, forcing Alex to piece together not only the crime but his own buried secrets. As the deadline ticks down, the videos reveal that the kidnapper knows Alex better than he knows himself. Detective Voss races to trace the signal while Alex follows cryptic instructions that lead him through his own life, confronting the night Lena's mother vanished years ago. The final clip drops just as Alex reaches the drop site, exposing that the ransom was never money but a confession. With time and truth collapsing, Alex must decide whether to save his daughter or erase the version of himself that made her a target.
The story
Alex receives the first out-of-order ransom video of his daughter and follows the initial demand to withdraw cash from his past. Detective Voss arrives warning him the signal is untraceable. Alex's ex-wife surfaces with new information about Lena's disappearance years prior.
Subsequent clips force Alex to revisit key locations from his life, unearthing evidence that he may have caused the original trauma. Voss closes in as the kidnapper's identity fractures between multiple suspects. Alex realizes the ransom is a confession he buried, not cash.
At the final meeting point Alex confronts the truth in the last video and chooses between saving Lena or protecting his rewritten history. The resolution leaves the audience questioning which timeline is real as the screen cuts to black on a new message.

Cold open
INT. ALEX'S APARTMENT - NIGHT Rain hammers the window. ALEX HARLAN, 42, disheveled, stares at his phone. The screen glitches. A VIDEO LOADS: darkness, then a single bulb. LENA, 17, bound to a chair, eyes wide with terror. Her voice crackles through distortion. LENA Dad? They say you have until sunrise. Don't call the cops. The video cuts mid-sentence. A new clip appears—timestamped three hours later—Lena's face bruised, whispering coordinates. Alex's hands shake. He rewinds. The order feels wrong. Another clip drops: Lena smiling faintly at the camera like she's already seen this moment before. ALEX (whispering) What the hell is happening? His phone rings. Unknown number. Static. A distorted voice laughs softly. The call drops. Alex grabs his keys and runs.
